Huron County Court Clerk Office

How to Request Court Documents

Copies of Huron County civil court records can be obtained in person or by mail. In-person requests are processed at the clerk's window. Bring the case number or as much identifying information as you have. Standard copies cost $1.00 per page. Certified copies carry a $10.00 certification fee on top of the page charges, per MCL 600.2546.

The clerk's office processes mail requests in the order they come in. Allow one to two weeks for a response, though it can be faster depending on the volume of requests at the time.

Electronic filing through MiFILE is another option for submitting documents to the court. Attorneys in Huron County are required to use MiFILE for many case types. Self-represented parties can also use the system voluntarily.

Civil Cases Handled in Huron County

The 73B District Court covers civil cases up to $25,000, as set by MCL 600.8301. Small claims go up to $6,500 and are handled in a more informal process. Huron County Records Access Rules

Michigan law presumes court records are public. Anyone can walk into the Huron County courthouse and ask to see civil case files. You do not need to be a party to the case.
