Civil Cases in Keweenaw County

The 12th Circuit Court takes civil cases where the amount in dispute exceeds $25,000. Contract claims, property disputes, and personal injury cases go through the Circuit Court. The court also hears appeals from District Court decisions.

The District Court covers civil cases up to $25,000 per MCL 600.8301. Small claims go up to $6,500. With Keweenaw County's small population, the number of civil cases filed each year is quite low.
