Civil cases over $25,000 go to the 48th Circuit Court. That limit is set by MCL 600.8301. Cases for smaller amounts land in the 57th District Court. If your dispute is worth $6,500 or less, you might be able to use small claims court instead, which is faster and cheaper.

However, most courts do not post the actual document images online. To get the full text of a complaint, answer, or judgment, you will need to contact the clerk's office and request copies.
In-person searches are always an option too. Visit the courthouse at 113 Chestnut Street during business hours. The clerk's staff can help you find cases in the system and pull physical files for review. Under MCR 8.119, civil court records are open to the public. You do not need a reason to look at them.
Requesting Allegan County Court Documents
You can get copies of civil court records from the Allegan County Clerk's office in person or by mail. Walk-in requests are the quickest way. Bring the case number if you have it. Staff will pull the file and copy what you need right there. Pay the copy fees before you leave.
